Hi there! Welcome! We're so glad you're here. In this space, we're going to document the story and restoration of 327 Jefferson Street, at one point known as The Sundry. We hope you enjoy following along in this project with us.
But first, who the heck are we?!
I'm Courtney (Paul) Wilson. I grew up in Greenfield and am a 2010 graduate of McClain High School. Greenfield will always be "home" and hold a special place in my heart. It's where I cheered on Friday nights (Go Tigers!), where I learned to drive a car, where I held my first job (I've still got a few of those old Dairy Nook shirts), and where I met my future husband in accounting class sophomore year. After high school graduation, I attended Ohio University in Athens and earned my B.S. in chemical engineering.
My husband (and business partner) is Josh Wilson. Josh's family moved back to Greenfield in 2007 when his dad retired from the US Air Force. When he graduated from McClain in 2008, Josh followed in his father's footsteps and enlisted in the USAF as a Space System Operator. In 2020, Josh became an inaugural member of the United States Space Force. His military service has taken him to Colorado, Greenland, Afghanistan, and back again to Colorado.
In 2016, Josh and I reconnected. I moved to Colorado in 2017, we were married in 2018, and we've since grown our family by a couple of kids (and pets).
As kids often do, ours have changed the way we view the world and the things we value. We started talking more about "moving back home," and realized military retirement was creeping up faster on us than we expected.
Each time we visited folks back home, we could feel the excitement and energy for rejuvenating the town.
There was a renewed sense of pride, and that stubborn sense of determination to "get things done" that you only find in the hardworking Midwest. We knew we wanted to be a part of this--to add to it--but weren't quite sure how to go about this.
Enter: Dr. Eric Borsini. Dr. Borsini owned several of the historic buildings in downtown Greenfield, but was making some life changes of his own, which included selling the properties. Nervous but excited, we packed up our bags and hopped on a flight to Ohio in September 2022 to meet Dr. Borsini and tour 305, 309, and 327 Jefferson Street.
The pride Dr. Borsini held in these 3 buildings could be felt radiating through every square inch of them. He was able to share details about their histories dating back well over 100 years. Every improvement, replacement, or repair was made carefully and with historic preservation in mind--many done by Dr. Borsini's own hand. Wherever possible, he found local and period-specific materials.
At the time, Dr. Borsini had already righted The Sundry's foundation, replaced its windows, and given it a new roof. The interior was down to bare bones--but he had saved many original pieces so that they could be restored to their rightful place.
The universe had spoken, and we knew we needed to listen.
While we got the financials and paperwork sorted out, Dr. Borsini continued to make progress on the building's restoration. The 2nd story staircase was uncovered and rebuilt. Large windows and French doors were installed on the secondary building. The main building exterior got a new protective white coat.
Mid-February 2023, we officially became owners of The Sundry. We plan to further Dr. Borsini's efforts of restoring the building to former glory, and bringing additional beauty and opportunity to the Village of Greenfield. Plans for this building include adding in 3-4 new spaces for small businesses to grow, a couple of luxury loft apartments, and potentially a community space. We're hoping to have all the spaces completed by Fall 2024 (though some will be available sooner).
We'd like to give a huge, heart-felt "Thank You!" to Dr. Eric Borsini, for getting The Sundry restoration off to a great start and for his continued mentorship and care for this building.
We're so excited to get started on this project, and hope you are just as excited to see it unfold!
Want to hear more about the Sundry store as it is restored.
Good Luck,
